Our Tree Services in Tweed Heads
At Bees Knees Trees, we handle both routine tree care and difficult removals for homeowners, businesses, strata properties and property managers in Tweed Heads. Our services include:
Tree Removal
Our team can remove trees that are dead, unstable or causing a conflict in some way, shape or form. We are particularly adept at managing removals in sites that are tight or difficult to access. Typically, this involves dismantling the tree from the top down and carefully lowering sections.
Palm and Hedge Trimming
Tweed Heads is home to many subtropical gardens that often need regular palm cleaning and hedge maintenance. We remove dead fronds and seed pods, and shape and control height through our palm and hedge trimming service.
Tree Lopping and Pruning
As part of our pruning service, we remove damaged limbs, reduce excessive canopy weight and cut branches back from buildings. We always plan the pruning around the tree’s structure.
Emergency and Storm Damage
We know that tree-related emergencies often arise in Tweed Heads, especially during the storm season. That is why we offer after-hours call-outs for urgent issues such as fallen trees, split limbs, and blocked access.
That said, if the damaged vegetation is near live powerlines or other electricity infrastructure, report the hazard to the network operator first.
Stump Grinding
If you have a stump in your garden from a tree that has previously been removed, our stump grinding work can clear the remaining obstruction without digging out the full root system. Once we’ve done this, you can prepare the area for turf, planting, or other landscaping.
Tree Removal Rules in Tweed Heads
In New South Wales, just because you own the land where trees grow does not automatically mean you can remove or heavily prune them.
In fact, Tweed Shire Council may require you to submit an application before granting approval to remove them. Additionally, separate state controls may apply to species that are threatened, considered koala habitat or native vegetation.
The council does state that light pruning of up to 20% of the living canopy must be completed to the relevant Australian Standard by a suitably qualified arborist. Residents or business owners cannot cut trees on public land.
Trees We Deal With in Tweed Heads
Tweed Heads is home to a diverse mix of trees. They include coastal rainforest plants, native eucalypts, and several introduced street or weed species that are well suited to its warm coastal climate.
Our team has over a decade of experience in pruning and removing these types of flora on the Gold Coast. We’ve worked extensively on properties in and around Kennedy Drive and the Tweed River. Many of these contain several subtropical species, palms and established shade trees.
